Operator approach to the Birkhoff equations (English)

By means of the methods of nonlinear functional analysis it is proved that for the direct variational expression of the evolution operator equation \(P_uu_t-Q(u)=0\) to exist, it is necessary and sufficient that this equation be of the Birkhoff type. The author derives formulas for construction of the Birkhoff operators. The relationship between the first integrals of the operator Birkhoff equation and the generalized Pfaffian action symmetries is analysed.
