\textit{G.~Auchmuty} [J. Differ. Equ. 50, 80--145 (1983; Zbl 0533.49007)] introduced the notion of the Lagrangians of type I and II as well as the anomalous dual variational principles. The author extends Auchmuty's anomalous variational principle to the case of nonlinear operators. As illustration the anomalous dual variational principles are constructed for the geometrically nonlinear model of elastic beam.
