The book could be divided into three parts. The first part is devoted to description a classical SQL-language in the frame of the data base system ORACLE. Step by step are introduced SQL-tools starting with the process of the creation of a relational data model and storing of data files as tables (relations) inside of data base. Then follows the explanation of procedures: how to show data from stored tables, how to calculate output data from the tables also with using of calculation conditions and how to change the table contents. Then it is described how is realized the requirement of data base change (f.e. tables structure, adding, removing tables), how virtual tables are created and the results protected. This part ends with introduction of specific operators for data selection and data changes.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe second part of the book contains concepts and statements that allow an objectrelational data processing. Defined are object type (abstract data types), the object types instantiation, methods belonging to the object types and using of the methods. The DB-System ORACLE has specific object types that are introduced here, too. After the second part are two chapters devoted to questions of data consistency and data protection. The third part deals with the main scheme of the ORACLE-host language.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEBesides the traditional programming languages -- COBOL, C and C++ -- the ORACLE-system offers as the host language a special procedure language PL/SQL that is used in the design environment SQL\(^*\)Plus. Using of the both host languages -- PL/SQL and C -- and them corresponding design environments are explained by examples. The book is the second edition of the title. It describes the newest ORACLE-product. Because of its content value and didactic value too it is strongly recommended for students, teachers, designers and programmers, too.
