The author considers a generalization of the bivariate Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials and studies their partial derivatives. Among other results, he derives generalizations of identities of \textit{H. Q. Yu} and \textit{C. G. Liang} [Fibonacci Q. 35, 19-23 (1997; Zbl 0879.11009)].
