\textit{Ph. Eyssidieux} obtained [J. Reine Angew. Math. 490, 155-212 (1997; Zbl 0886.32014)] a universal inequality for the complex variations of Hodge structure over compact weakly Kähler hyperbolic manifolds. An important role in his considerations is played by the dominant weight \( \lambda \). The author of the paper under review defines the notion of generic dominant weight via some property of the corresponding characters. The central theorem here deals with the characterization of the non-generic dominant weights.
