Numerical treatment of optimization problems in the design of antennas with generalized evolution methods (English)
0 references
The author developes and investigates numerical methods for global optimization problems occuring in antenna design. The dissertation starts with a unified presentation of evolutionary strategies and genetic algorithms, including some convergence results. Then these algorithms are applied to optimization problems with vector-valued objective functions. The far field characteristics of antennas and antenna arrays are discussed, and the corresponding optimal design problems are treated using Tikhonov regularization and vector optimization. In particular, the optimization of thinned arrays is considered in some detail. An appendix contains remarks on the implementation of evolutionary algorithms.
