Analysis of two-machine CONWIP system: Matrix geometric solution (English)
0 references
The paper considers a production system with a constant level of work-in-process (CONWIP). The system consists of two sequential machines and four buffers that store the raw parts, the semi-finished parts and the finished parts. The parts arrive according to a Poisson process, the processing times are assumed to be exponentially distributed. The system is modelled as a quasi-birth-and-death process. The equilibrium conditions are derived, the stationary probability vector is obtained. Various performance measures are discussed, including the estimates on the number of parts in each buffer.
