Multigrid for the Wilson mortar element method (English)

The mortar finite element method can be viewed as a special domain decomposition method where meshes on different subdomains do not need to coincide along the interfaces. Until now, this mortar method has been essentially used in connection with conforming finite elements.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEAfter a first extension to \(P_1\) nonconforming mortar element by \textit{L. Marcinkowski} [BIT 39, No. 4, 716-739 (1999; Zbl 0944.65115)], this paper analyzes the mortar finite element method for the Wilson nonconforming element. The authors obtain an optimal error estimate in the energy norm on the one hand, and they study a multigrid algorithm for solving the resulting algebraic system on the other hand.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe paper does not include numerical illustrations.
