The author calculates explicitly the norm of the bounded linear operator \(Ax(t, s)= x(t)- x(s)\) in the Lebesgue space \(L_p[0,1]\) and in the Lorentz space \(A_\varphi[0,1]\). In particular, she gives sufficient conditions on the function \(\varphi\) under which \(\|A\|_{\Lambda_\varphi}< 2\).
