This paper analyzes a mixed finite-element method for a nonlinear, exterior elliptic equation in the plane. The problem is linear outside a bounded subset, and the domain is truncated by the use of a Dirichlet-to-Neumann map on a large circle in the linear region. It is shown that the Babuska-Brezzi theory extends to this problem, and this theory is used to obtain error bounds for Raviart-Thomas finite elements.
