The first edition of this textbook, which became a standard reference for engineers, researchers and students, appeared in 1992. The book consists of the following chapters: 1) Fundamental concepts, 2) Analytical methods, 3) Finite difference methods, 4) Variational methods, 5) Moment methods, 6) Finite element methods, 7) Transmission-line matrix method, 8) Monte Carlo methods, 9) Method of lines. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINECompared to the first edition (1992; Zbl 0759.65089), a new chapter on method of lines, recent advances in the FDTD method, a discussion of absorbing boundary conditions in FDTD, FEM and TLM, appendices containing a review of \(C^{++}\), and applications of the techniques to real-life problems are included.
