    The design of a model reference adaptive controller (MRAC) for a multivariable system was proposed by \textit{X. Xie} and \textit{X. Li} in an earlier paper [J. Luoyang Univ. 16, No. 2, 4-6, 13 (2001; Zbl 1045.93047)]. Here they give a detailed proof of the stability and optimality of the MRAC for single-variable stochastic systems under certain assumptions.
