First recalling the notion of almost CR manifold, the authors enumerate several properties concerning a graded Lie algebra such as fundamental, nondegenerate, characteristic, transitive and pseudocomplex graded Lie algebras. A nondegenerate CR manifold is called maximally homogeneous if its group of CR automorphisms has a dimension, which is maximal in some geometrical sense. The authors finally assert that the results obtained here give the classification of all compact maximally homogeneous CR manifolds.
