The author considers the problem of calculating scattered radiation fields. Firstly he considers the transport equation and splits the density of the mean free path into a delta function and the rest. He points out that long trajectories result in high computational costs and suggests an approximation for the transport equation which is associated with shorter trajectories. The accuracy of the method is discussed and the results of a numerical experiment are given. Occasions when the method is inapplicable are pointed out.
