Carter subgroups of singular pseudo-symplectic groups (English)

A subgroup of a group is called a Carter subgroup if it is a self-normalizing nilpotent subgroup. The authors investigate the existence of Carter subgroups for the singular pseudo-symplectic group over a finite field \(F_q\) of characteristic 2. It is shown that if \(q>2\), then no Carter subgroups exist; and if \(q=2\), then the normalizers of Sylow 2-subgroups are Carter subgroups.
