Die experimentellen Grundlagen werden gut erläutert und die mathematische Beschreibungsweise gut motiviert. Probleme werden ausführlich durchgerechnet. Behandelt werden Welle-Teilchen Dualismus, klassische Atomphysik, die Schrödinger-Gleichung und Atome mit einem und mehreren Elektronen. Anspruchsvollere Kapitel und Abschnitte (z.B. Operatoren, Drehimpulse) sind mit einem Stern versehen.
