The authors present a thermodynamical model of saturated porous media. Two internal state variables are introduced in order to describe the isotropic pore structure of a porous medium saturated with a fluid: as usual the volume porosity, and a structural parameter which describes the inhomogeneity of fluid micro-velocity field caused by the pore structure of skeleton. The authors claim that the latter is related to the tortuosity.
