The author suggests and numerically realizes a method for tsunami time calculating using the Huygens principle. The essence of this principle is that all points of the water area become sources of wave radiation and radiate wave energy in all directions in a wave perturbed area. The algorithm of computation is based on looking through the entire wave front of grid points and then calculating the so-called travel times which are found as minimum among all possible travel-times from nearest points. The sum of travel times from the initial source up to each wave front points and from these points to the grid point under consideration is minimized among all possible travel ways. The author indicates that the previous algorithm of the wave front kinematics computation works incorrectly in areas with complicated topology. In such areas the tsunami travel times calculations can be carried out by using algorithms based on the Huygens principle. The algorithm proposed is illustrated by numerical experiments together with the visualization procedures for some concrete regions of the Pacific Ocean. The result shows that this approach requires a greater amount of computing resources comparatively with the methods that use the ray theory.
