On the theory of generalized Toeplitz kernels (English)

The integral representation of the generalized Toeplitz kernels were obtained by \textit{M. Cotlar} and \textit{C. Sadosky} [Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 35, Part 1, 383-407 (1979; Zbl 0448.42008)], and by \textit{R. Bruzual} [Integr. Equ. Oper. Theory 10, 780--801 (1987; Zbl 0656.47031)]. The authors give a new proof of these results based on the spectral theory of the appropriate differential operator acting on the space constructed from a kernel. Conditions for the uniqueness of the measure appearing in the representation are found.
