Optimal piecewise uniform grids for singularly perturbed equations of convection-diffusion type (English)

The paper deals with a theoretical analysis of optimal grid approximations for singularly perturbed elliptic equations in a strip. A special monotonic finite-difference scheme is used on refined piecewise uniform grids. The uniform convergence with respect to the perturbation parameter and the unimprovability of the convergence rate related to the error estimate obtained is proven. The parameters determining the grids yielding the optimal convergence rate are given.
