The authors prove some sum-to-product identities. The proofs make use of the Jacobi triple product identity and the quintuple product identity. From the identities that are obtained are deduced new proofs of five simple and beautiful sum-to-product identities due to \textit{R. Blecksmith, J. Brillart} and \textit{I. Gerst} [Math. Comp. 48, No. 177, 29-38 (1987; Zbl 0617.10010) and Math. Comp. 51, No. 183, 301-314 (1988; Zbl 0655.10010)].
