Robust stability of linear functional differential equations (English)

The robust stability of linear retarded systems described by general linear functional-differential equations is studied using the state space approach based on the notion of stability radii. A formula for the complex stability radius of the system with respect to structured affine parameter perturbations is established. Classes of positive linear retarded systems are considered in detail. For them, real and complex stability radii coincide and can be computed by simple formulae expressed in term of the system matrices. The results include as particular cases some previously established ones for linear time-delay equations.
