On the torsion of higher contact structures (English)
0 references
The author studies the tight contact structures on 3-manifolds. Using the torsion, an invariant introduced by \textit{E. Giroux} [ibid. 27, 697--705 (1994; Zbl 0819.53018)], the sufficient conditions for existing infinitely many non-isomorphic tight contact structures on a 3-manifold are given. In particular it is proved that every orientable Seifert fibered space over a surface of genus \(g\geq 1\) admits infinitely many non-isomorphic tight contact structures.
