Let \(\varphi\) be a homeomorphism of a metric space and let \(C\) be a component of the chain recurrent set CR\((\varphi)\). The authors find conditions (in terms of the bishadowing property [see \textit{P. Kloeden} and \textit{J. Ombach}, Ann. Polon. Math. 65, No. 2, 171-177 (1997; Zbl 0877.58044)]) under which a \(C^0\)-small perturbation of \(\varphi\) is chaotic in a neighborhood of \(C\).
