Extending the Archimedean Positivstellensatz to the non-compact case (English)

The author shows a generalization of \textit{K. Schmüdgen}'s Positivstellensatz [Math. Ann. 289, 203-206 (1991; Zbl 0744.44008)] which holds for any basic closed semialgebraic set in \(\mathbb R^n\). The method of proof is purely algebraic, based on the representation theorem of Kadison-Dubois.
