When I first saw this book I thought that this is the biography of the young Irish woman who was in the press because of her crypto-system that was supposed to be superior to RSA but then turned out to be completely insecure. In other words, a book I would not read. However, the book surprised my quite a bit. It is much more than a biography. Apart from telling the story of how Sarah Flannery got involved in cryptography and made it into all newspapers, the book is full of little math problems that let the reader get first-hands experience why mathematics is a fun subject. In the same way it introduces the reader to the basics of cryptography. While you, the typical user of this review-database, probably find all these problems trivial, you might wanna give this book to someone as a present.
