Nonlinear dispersive waves in a circular rod composed of a Mooney-Rivlin material (English)

This paper deals with wave propagation in Mooney-Rivlin elastic rods. The study is based on the derivation of a set of differential equations which exhibits a discontinuity at a certain point. The author uses the plane phase technique to study this singularity. The main contribution lies in showing that, in contrast to neo-Hookean materials where there are only two types of travelling waves, the Mooney-Rivlin rods can exhibit ten types of travelling waves (among them, the cusp solitary waves and radial contraction waves).NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0962.00003].
