Stability of motion of a system of two Lagrange gyroscopes formed in a half-closed chain (English)

The nonlinear motion equations for a system of two Lagrange gyroscopes (symmetric gyroscopes) formed in the half-closed chain are considered. The stationary motions for which the first body permanently rotates and the second body performs a regular precession are studied. For that regime the motion equations are written and then reduced to Hill's equation. Conditions of stability and instability for this motion are obtained.
