The book is in general a nontechnical tour through the principles of physics and astrophysics. But this does not mean that no equations are used or that the style is in an complete nonphysical nomenclature. Any reader with a background in mathematics and/or physics will find this book provides fascinating insight into our fundamental understanding of the world. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEEvery of the 15 chapters picks up a basic description of our physical world. It explains the ideas and connects these in the framework of general physical and philosophical thinking and reasoning. Excellent examples are chapters 7 and 9: Gravitation and Curved Spacetime; Quantum Theory with Special Relativity.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe atom, the elementary particle, the stars, the Universe all these different objects are seen under the same message: The message of the book is the patterns of unification. More and more apparently, diverse phenomena are explained by fewer and fewer underlying principles.
