Pfaffian solutions

BKP and CKP hierarchies of integrable evolution equations are deduced from Kadomtsev-Petviashvili via a symmetry method. These systems appear to be symmetry reductions at first sight but are not on closer inspection. Special techniques to verify Pfaffian solutions for both the BKP and reduced BKP bilinear hierarchies is illustrated.
