After an excellent survey on geometric quantization the paper under review contains a construction of a quantum representation space for the Sternberg approach of minimal coupling [\textit{S. Sternberg}, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 74, 5253-5254 (1977; Zbl 0765.58010)]. In the framework of principal bundles the main tools of this construction are the metaplectic structures, prequantum line bundles and polarizations on symplectic manifolds.
