Symmetries in covariant classical mechanics. (English)

The aim of this paper is to analyze in a systematic way the symmetries in the covariant Galilei theory, proposed originally by \textit{A. Jadczyk} and \textit{M. Modugno} [in: Cerdonio, M. (ed.) et al., General relativity and gravitational physics. Proceedings of the 10th Italian conference, Bardonecchia, Italy, 1992. Singapore: World Scientific, 319--337 (1994; Zbl 1004.83518)], i.e. the covariant classical mechanics on a curved space-time with absolute time. The set of natural bijections between geometric objects related to the dynamics is found and the conserved quantities are studied through a momentum map associated to the action of a symmetry group of the above theory. Three simple examples are treated to illustrate the theory.
