In [Monatsh. Math. 91, 257-274 (1981; Zbl 0451.53041)] \textit{B. Y. Chen} defined the generic submanifolds of a Kähler manifold. On the other hand, \textit{K. Matsumoto} in [Bull. Yamagata Univ. Natur. Sci. 12, No. 2, 151-156 (1989; Zbl 0675.53035)] introduced the notion of Lorentzian paracontact manifolds. In this paper, the authors consider generic submanifolds of a Lorentzian para-Sasakian manifold and investigate the integrability of the structure distributions and the geometry of their leaves.
