This book is a general treatise on aerodynamics for aircraft flying at small Mach numbers as well as ground and marine vehicles.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe first part (chapters from one to three) deals with the basic problem of inviscid incompressible flows leading to the solution method for potential flow equations. The second part (chapters from four to eight) focuses on analytical methods for the flow over a thin airfoil or wing based on perturbations. Complex variable tools are presented in a separate chapter, and two- and three-dimensional cases are examined. The third part (chapters from nine to thirteen) develops numerical methods based on the surface singularity distribution technique. The two-, three-dimensional and unsteady cases are examined in succession.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINETwo new chapters devoted to viscosity and turbulence are added to this second edition. Chapter fourteen deals with laminar boundary layer and some solution methods, while chapter fifteen presents turbulence aspects (modelling, experiments). In the appendices one finds some integrals used in the text as well as sample FORTRAN computer programs. There is a middle sized index at the end.
