It is first shown that al-Jurjānī was misidentified in the books on Arabic science. It is determined that he was working around the year 1000 C. E. and that of the two extant works, one is directed to al-Bīrūnī and the second one influenced Ibn al-Haytham. They are problems of neusis, of finding a segment of given length between two given lines through a given point, to be solved by conics. The paper contains an explanation of the mathematics, an edition of the Arabic text, very legibly printed in \TeX\ , and a complete translation.
