The authors consider the controlled system NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\dot x= f(t,x)+ B(t,x)\widetilde f+ B(t,x)(I+\widetilde B) u(t)NEWLINE\]NEWLINE under some structure conditions that allow a sliding surface to be recognized. A connection between sliding and regular motions is pointed out and applied to design a variable structure control law.
