Geometric classification of the torsion tensor of space-time (English)

The aim of the paper is to give two classifications for torsion tensors in the \(U_4\) spacetime. The first one uses products of covariant bivectors with vectors; the other one exploits the decomposition of torsion into three irreducible parts. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEA very comprehensive and detailed motivation for torsion theories is provided, together with applications to shear, vorticity, expansion, acceleration and the Raychaudhuri equation.
