Summry: A difference equation as \(f(x)=\sum c_nf(2x-n)\) is investigated. Methods to select an initial function for solving the difference equation by using iterative algorithm are given. The main results in this paper improve and extend the corresponding results of \textit{I. Daubechies} and \textit{J. C. Lagarias} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 22, No.~5, 1388-1410 (1991; Zbl 0763.42018); ibid. 23, No.~4, 1031-1079 (1992; Zbl 0788.42013)].
