Generalized random walks with negative binomial stopping times (English)
0 references
The authors consider a generalized simple random walk in which the steps take the values \(c\), \(-d\), and 0 with probabilities \(p\), \(q\), and \(r\), respectively. Several stopping times, such as the \(k\)th time the random walk makes an upward step, the \(k\)th time the random walk makes either an upward or a downward step, as well as some related quantities are investigated.
