A linearly implicit time integration scheme for the Burgers' equation (English)

The authors present a linearized linearly implicit scheme for the time integration of the viscous Burgers equation. The obtained linearly implicit scheme obviates the need to solve a nonlinear equation, which is obvious in the case of using the classical Crank-Nicolson scheme and the respective trapezoidal formula. The suggested scheme, like the Crank-Nicolson one, is second-order accurate both in time and in space. Numerical experiments verify that the numerical approximations using this scheme are comparable with the classical Crank-Nicolson method.
