The author, a long-time friend and colleague of Gordon Pask (1928--1996), gives personal remembrances interspersed with some of Pask's accomplishments in which the author shared, beginning as undergraduates at Cambridge University in 1951. These included the founding of Systems Research Ltd., the making of teaching machines, and the founding of the Cybernetics Society in the 1970s. Particularly interesting are the possible mutual influences hinted at by the lists of visitors; these included Warren McCulloch, Heinz von Foerster, George Spencer Brown, F. Rosenblatt, Marvin Minsky, and O. Selfridge.
