The effect of the walls of an arbitrary tank in the problem of separation-free impact on a floating body (English)

The author proposes an algorithm for constructing asymptotic power series for large depth flows. By using the well-known solution which describes the impact on a rigid body floating on the surface of a fluid half-space, the author obtains an approximate solution of the impact problem for the same body floating on the surface of a fluid in a bounded basin. The case where the fluid domain has two planes of symmetry is considered, and asymptotic expressions are given for velocity potential on the wetted part of the body surface, and for the added mass. Examples illustrate the approach.
