The author presents the present status of the theory and practice of dispersive kinetics. The book is written at the level of graduate students or specialized higher level undergraduates. It is useful to chemists, biologists, physicists and material scientists dealing with condensed media. The book is divided into four chapters. NEWLINENEWLINEIn the introductory chapter one the author clearly explains when the kinetics is called dispersive. The second chapter deals with the phenomenological approach to dispersive kinetics. First the kinetics of renewing environments is considered. The first order kinetics and the second order equal- concentration kinetics for activation energy distribution and rigid-matrix approximation are discussed in detail. The temperature dependence of the rate parameters and time scale invariance of dispersive rate processes are also presented. In order to get the limit of classical kinetics in the model of reaction kinetics in the renewing environments, the approximation of classical kinetics is considered in the third chapter. The viscosity dependence of specific reaction rate and the compensation law are discussed. In the fourth chapter the author presents the kinetics in condensed media. The solvation, reaction course in fluids, fluid-solid transition and reaction course in solids are some of the topics covered in this chapter. Finally some heterogeneous systems are also discussed. NEWLINENEWLINEThe five hundred and seventy references at the end of the book are quite adequate in bringing the current status of the subject dealt with in the book. NEWLINENEWLINEThis is a useful reference book for researchers in the area of dispersive kinetics.
