The book is a lively elementary easy-to-read introduction to some of the best-known questions in combinatorics with applications in other areas (especially elementary geometry) devoted to young (graduate) beginners. Main contents are: extremal set theory (from Sperner to Ramsey), Borsuk conjecture (and relative counter-examples) and chromatic numbers, Euclidean Ramsey theory, covering and packing of hypergraphs (with application to Hamming codes). Reference can be very useful. Several open problems are recalled.
