Subdifferentiability of typical continuous functions (English)

The authors prove a ``typical'' subdifferentiability principle and apply it to a variety of complete metric spaces of continuous functions on separable Banach spaces. The relationship between continuous functions with maximal subdifferentials and nowhere monotone functions is discussed.
