Compression of quantum information (Q2747084)

This work is presents a state of art review of the theory of compression of quantum information. For completeness basics theorems on compression of classical information and the basic notions needed to describe quantum information are discussed. The meat of the paper is the detailed discussion on compression of pure as well as mixed signal states presented in a unified framework for the cases of complete description of the source and incomplete description of source. The theory is elaborated upon with examples. In the context of incomplete description of source the Jaynes inference scheme was discussed. Open problems involved in the interpretational questions of compression of quantum information and perspectives are discussed.
