Gyroscopic forces in automotive design (English)

The authors develop a method for describing gyroscopic forces acting on a car wheel with six degrees of freedom. Using additional concepts, the authors demonstrate how the gyroscopic forces can be directly incorporated in an MSC/NASTRAN finite element package. The frequency response to an unbalanced excitation is calculated for a large-scale finite element vehicle model, and gyroscopic effects are exhibited in detail.
