A variable structure model reference control: A switching scheme (English)

A switching scheme for the gain of the control variable of a VS-MRAC system has been recently presented for plants with a relative degree of one. Here, the scheme is extended to the general case of plants with an arbitrary relative degree. The relationship between tracking error and auxiliary errors for the case of plants with relative degree greater than one is established. Using this relationship, it is shown that an auxiliary system can be designed as a sub-system with relative degree one, and as long as the performance indexes meet the requirements, the tracking error will converge to a small residual set in the pre-specified transient time. Furthermore, the influence of averaging filters on the system is analyzed.
