    Many books are devoted to the subject of linear algebra. These books are usually represented either by textbooks or on the other hand by excercise books. However, there are not many reference books which could help students to develop their proper habits in solving problems in various fields of linear algebra.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe aim of this book is to fill such a gap and to make independent and individual effort of students easier. This handbook covers basic fields of linear algebra. It consists of eight chapters divided into several sections. The titles of chapters are as follows:NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEMatrices and determinants, Linear spaces, Systems of linear equations, Euclidean and unitary spaces, Linear operators, and Quadratic and bilinear forms. Unlike the previous edition of the book, this edition comprises two new chapters: Tensors and groups suitable primarily for specialists in physics.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe structure of the reference book corresponds to the above mentioned learning and methodical aims. As a rule, the subject matter of individual sections is divided into four parts.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe basic theoretical knowledge including definitions, theorems and formulas which is needed for solving the problems is given without proofs in the part Basic terms and theorems. These principles are sometimes accompanied by illustrative examples or comments. The part Control questions and problems comprises the questions from theory and simple problems whose solutions do not require complicated calculations, however, they clarify various theoretical relations very well. In the part Examples of solved problems, the solutions of typical problems of the given subject are presented. In doing so the emphasis is put not only on the technical method of the solution but many times also on the simplest way of the solution especially by means of geometrical interpretation of algebraic terms.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFinally, the part Questions and problems for independent and individual effort indicates its contents. The number of problems is limited to be sufficient for students to absorb basic methods of solutions of problems of the given subject. The answers and results of the solutions of these problems are presented at the end of the book. The book is provided by an index for easy finding of definitions. This study material is intended mainly for students but it can be also useful for lecturers.
