Apparently first closed-form solutions for inhomogeneous vibrating beams under axial loading (English)
0 references
The authors present closed-form solutions for natural frequencies of inhomogeneous beams vibrating under axially distributed loading. The mode shape is postulated to coincide with static deflection of an associated homogeneous beam without distributed axial loading. Then, using a family of polynomial functions, the authors solve the inverse problem of determining stiffness and mass density distributions which produce the above mode shape.
